Overhand Serving
This week we are working on overhand serving!
This is a good overview of the mindset you should have while you’re getting ready to serve, as well as a few tips on positioning of your body and your arms. For a float serve, really focus on stopping your arm at the point you contact the ball, and to make sure you keep your hand and wrist stiff. You don’t want to follow through or snap your wrist because that will put spin on the ball and it won’t float very much.
A lot of the power for serving comes from your hips and the change in your weight distribution from your back foot to your front foot. Get used to having a nice rocking motion while you’re stepping to contact the ball.
